Free short story Unicorn Poachers now available

This story might surprise you. It's a glimpse into the future and in fact is in the first chapter of the new Island of Fog series due for release in the New Year.

It's twenty years on from Castle of Spells. Hal and Abigail are now married with a twelve-year-old son of their own. Cale is ready to choose what kind of shapeshifter he wants to be, and the story will follow his decision-making process while dealing with a logical threat in this new twin-world future: poachers paid to capture exotic creatures for private zoos.

Hehe. I have to say it feels good to be back in that world. But it feels especially good that it's a new series with new characters (with some crossover visits from many of the old characters). I see Hal and Abigail and the rest having some minor roles in the same way that Charlie and Lucas did, passing valuable bits of wisdom down to the younger generation so they can get on with their adventures.

I really enjoyed that first chapter! I have to admit, it will be a little sad to see all the characters I love from the first series grown up...
