The adventures of Hal Franklin and his friends continue with a trip to the Lake of Spirits, where the shapeshifters meet a beautiful mermaid-like young woman. But is she as friendly as she appears? They end up stranded in Old Earth with no magic, running for their lives on the Roads of Madness and battling a gang of virus survivors known as scrags. In an effort to regain their lost magic, the friends journey to the creepy Chamber of Ghosts where the walls glow with energy... and shadowy figures from the afterlife.
